Halifax Citadel National Historic Site Jan 1, 2003 to Dec 31, 2009 Constructed between 1828 and 1856, this citadel is an impressive star-shaped masonry structure complete with its defensive ditch, ramparts, musketry gallery, powder magazine, garrison cells, guard room, barracks and school room. On the guided tour, visitors may see the 78th Highland Regiment in action, hear the beauty of the bagpipes and ask a soldier's wife what life was like back then. |

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic May 15, 2005 to Dec 31, 2009 Nautical and marine history of Atlantic Canada including the Halifax Explosion, an early shipchandlery, Days of Sail gallery, small craft gallery and a lighthouse light. CSS Acadia, a 1913 hydrographic research vessel that charted the coasts of Labrador and the Arctic, is moored outside (open May through October) as is HMCS Sackville, the sole survivor of WWII corvette convoys escorts from Halifax to England during World War II. The museum also has a permanent exhibit about the Titanic disaster with 20 artifacts (the only surviving deck chair ) and dozens of photographs. The Museum open year round. Musquodoboit Harbour Railway Museum May 15, 2008 to Dec 31, 2009 Housed in the former Canadian National Railway Station (c.1918). Exhibits tell the story of Nova Scotia's railway. The collection includes memorabilia, photographs, maps, posters, tickets, artifacts and a small library. Many exhibits are designed for children, with more in-depth material for the serious railway buff. Part of the former rail line has been transformed into a 15km trail. Season: June 1 - January 1 |

Truro Tidal Bore Interpretive Centre Jan 1, 2003 to Dec 31, 2009 The moon and sun create gravitational forces that act on the waters of the world giving us high and low tides. Thanks to the unique shape and conditions present in the Bay of Fundy these changes are greatly amplified. In fact, the Bay of Fundy is home to the highest recorded tides in the world. One can literally see the tide coming in. In some places, the effect is so dramatic that it can be seen as a wave called a Tidal Bore. Depending on conditions, Tidal Bore size can range from a ripple to over a meter in height. |

Uniacke Estate Museum Park Jun 1, 2008 to Oct 15, 2008 Uniacke Estate was the country property of Attorney-General Richard John Uniacke. The house, built 1813-15, with its original furnishings is one of Canada's finest examples of a grand country house in the Georgian tradition. The estate offers visitors a vivid glimpse of 19th-century life among Nova Scotia's gentry. The survival of such a house with its contents is very rare. Open: June 1-Oct. 15 Mon.-Sat. 9:30 am-5:30 pm, Sun. 11 am-5:30 pm Note: Although Uniacke House is open only during the above hours, walking trails are open from dawn until dusk, year round.
